Officers’ Reports
President – Nancy Swart:       May 2001 Report:  Spent a lot of time this month researching prices and working on graphics for items to sell at MASNA booth at M13.  Worked with AMDA to setup joint meeting and help with “Caulerpa Crisis”.  Attended joint AMDA/MASNA meeting. This was a first and turned out to be very productive and beneficial for all. We have pledged reciprocal support wherever possible. Another meeting will be setup to further discuss the possibility and logistics of a  “Dealer’s Trade Show”.

Vice-President – Dennis Gallagher:       Working mainly with getting contracts, perks, bugs worked out on hotel and other objectives for MACNA 14, so we can have another great conference.

Secretary Dave Sinn                                 Nothing to report

Treasurer – Dave Adkins:            Treasurer’s report as of April 24, 2001 is $20,600.00

Editor – Nancy Swart:                   Working on Summer issue of Marine Scene. Target mailing date is June 1.  If you have anything you’d like to submit, please get it to me ASAP.

At Large and MACNA XIII Editor – Eric West: Absent

MAC/USCRTF – John Brandt:    There is no news to report from either the MAC or the USCRTF.  Dr. Barbara Best from the USCRTF will be speaking at MACNA in Baltimore.  Keep checking online for updated news and issues.

Public Relations - Connie Hannon:       Posted the contacts for Mary Middlebrook, and Assemblyman Harman for grievance letters concerning "caulerpa crisis" on all the reefkeeping message boards.  Also posted links to subsequent petitions on MASNA board, and reef message boards.  Composed letter about said caulerpa crisis that was sent to MASNA members, and clubs.  Responded via snail mail to two requests for MASNA/MACNA information.

Scholarship/Fundraising – Tim Tucker:            Working on On-Line auction fund raiser, plus speaking with commercial operations about MACNA booths/ ads/ donations

Web -  Routine updates. Removed Club sections on BB due to lack of participation. Posted pleas for help with Caulerpa issue and Moe survey.

Committees

Membership:           Sent four (4) new member packets since April meeting: Kent H. Bredbenner, Teri L. Yarnell, Bob Minard, and Stephen M Bentz.  Total individual members: 47, Total Clubs: 14 (Last month: 38 ind. members, 14Clubs)  *Note: Some of the members have become single, or since added spouse name to membership so attempts to figure % of increase in membership are skewed.

Old Business                Spoke briefly about meeting held with the AMDA Board and how to proceed and/or help them.

Noted comments about recent California Caulerpa legislation.
