Officers Reports:

Officers reports were sent electronically via email.

Treasurer reported a bank balance of $4837.53 and no new deposits since LAMAS on 11/29/99.

He also report our new credit card machine was up and running.

Past President reported MACNA XII is going well. To date we have 31 registered for conference & banquet.

Vice President reported that she will be completing the Standards of Practice in the next week and will forward them for review and input. She had also notified all BOD members of this meeting via email.

Fundraising:

Larry reported that he wanted to send out round two of our Fundraising letters, so that we might be able to factor the donations into the budget. He also asked for suggestions from the BOD so that this letter could be compiled and mailed by Feb. 1/00. Suggestions could be sent to Larry or Kelly or both ASAP.

Advertising:

Bryan Petersen with the help of Tom Walsh has agreed to handle the advertising for MACNA XII. Eric West will be doing the graphics. Tom's email address is twalsh@archbishopcurley.org.

Scholarship:

It is hoped the trade publications would give us a free blurb and Al will check with some of the contributing writers and ask for their help by putting a mention in their articles about our scholarship fund.

Kelly reported that LAMAS has a member who will be graduating this year and would be interested in the scholarship.

Inquiries should to addressed to:

MASNA
c/o Larry Ecker, President

Ph: (219) 273-3019

Web Site:

Although Dennis Gallagher's medical condition is improving daily it was felt that we should offer him all the assistance with the Web site as possible. It was suggested by Kelly that we might find someone to temporarily carry on as Web Master while Dennis has time to fully recoup from his illness. In this way he could focus all his energy on
getting well.

It was suggested that we ask Nancy Swart to assist as temporary Web master until Dennis's recovery is complete and he is well enough to take over. Nancy was the one who set up the MASNA Web Site and is fully qualified to handle the temporary position.

Larry contacted Nancy and she indicated that she would be happy to assist Dennis on a temporary basis.

Old Business:

MACNA XII:

Bryan asked that we send letters to all the delegates, explaining to them what MASNA is trying to achieve with MACNA and that we would like their help in the distribution of programs, flyers etc. Bryan agreed to draft the letter and forward a copy to the BOD for their input.

It was also suggested that we send a letter with a flyer to all those who attended MACNA XI in Louisville.

MASM (Marinelife Aquarium Society of Michigan) will distribute flyers at their March 25/00 conference on our behalf. CMAS (Chicago) will also distribute them at their April Conference.

David is to send Nancy the MACNA XII logo for use on our web site.

New Business:

MACNA XIII:
Two bids have been received for MACNA XIII. One from CMAS (Chesapeake) and one from LMAS (Louisville). Larry will fax or snail mail copies of their bids to BOD members for their information and consideration prior to the selection vote which will take place at the regular Feb. BOD meeting.

Adjournment:

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 10:45ET
