Call to order 9:12 PM EDT

1) Approval of July Minutes

Motion by Nancy and seconded by Jenn to accept July minutes as published.

2) Officers' Reports

President/Web (Nancy Swart)

-Marriott Hotel Bill: Brian has finally received a release from the Marriott. However, the check hasn't cleared yet so we still can't consider this officially a done deal. Brian is following up with their attorney and will keep us posted.

-FAMA Ad: I've prepared something for the MACNA Program Book that we can modify to use for FAMA as long as we retain the wording I've used. Eric and I will work on this. This is assuming Cathy hasn't sent anything in yet.

-Preparation and Notice of Annual Meeting/Elections: Annual meeting will take place at 9:00AM on Friday, September 27th at MACNA. We also hold our elections then. I've discussed with Cathy, Jenn and Mary by email how we'll handle this. A Notice will go out to all members to be in their hands no later than August 27th. I'd like to serve Continental breakfast, which I'll probably cover with personal funds.

This year, we're keeping it even simpler. Attendees will just be provided with an Agenda and Brochure rather than the entire packet we've provided in the last couple of years. Carl will submit a Balance Sheet and I'll have copies of by-laws and Host Agreement for anybody who's interested. We'll need to find a volunteer to act as Secretary (Minutes, Roll Call, Ballot Counts, etc.) if Jenn is unable to attend.

-Membership Renewals: Membership Renewal Invoices will go out with the Meeting Notice. However, if anybody joins online during the month of August and pays full dues, I'd like to consider them paid through 2003 if all agree.

-We'll need to find some volunteers for the MASNA booth at MACNA. If this isn't possible, we'll put membership applications out with a box to drop them in. I'll get some brochures printed up to bring too unless Tom would like to do this.

-Website Awards: Chuck, I'd like the email notifying all webmasters to come from you. We do this on a points system based on MASNA and MACNA logos with links on the home page, artistic appeal, content and timeliness of updates.  I can go over this with you by phone if you're willing and have the time.

Secretary (Jenn Myerscough)

-Minutes are up to date.

Dir. of Internet Promotion (Chuck Scannell)

-22000 emails were sent out via reeftalk.com, reefs.org and Reef Central to all members for MACNA. This is the most ever and hopefully we should see some return on the time and effort in the attendance this year.  A lot of members are registered on all the boards so we are looking at least 10,000 individual reefers and organizations. This number is probably low but is a good estimate.

Next I have compiled a list of potential contacts for MASNA logo to be placed on sites. I am waiting on a new logo and have set the following requirements on size: 468x80pixels is the size used by most boards and sites as  the norm.  An example logo can be seen at http://www.reeftalk.com/masna.jpg. As per our phone conversation earlier I have edited the email you sent basically putting my name on it and contacted every webmaster for every Member Club. We have two emails listed on our site that are not valid anymore. However I visited their sites and obtained the proper email.

Discussion followed regarding an online contest for a new logo.  Mary Middlebrook has offered a prize of $100.00 in corals.  Contest to begin ASAP and end on September 10, just prior to next BOD meeting.  BOD to vote on submissions.

Editor/Speaker Liaison/Industry Liaison  (Mary Middlebrook)

I have the newsletter formatted with MACNA info and an article from Bob Fenner. Was waiting on Nancy's president's letter when the laptop died again.  Hopefully I'll have it back by Friday, then I can send the newsletter to Nancy this weekend.

3) Open Discussion

4) Adjournment

Motion to adjourn 9:58 EDT by Nancy second by Jenn.
