Every year a 1000+ fellow hobbyist make the annual pilgrimage to the largest and longest running marine and reef hobbyist event of the year. This September marks the 22nd year of MACNA and, as always, it is sure to be a great event. On a personal level I am excited to be a part of it. As a hobbyist, what better place to be as a marine aquarium enthusiast then at an event with literally hundreds of other people that share the same interest.

During a MASNA Live episode about the Marine Breeding Initiative, I met a young man who has captive bred Premnas biaculeatus, Gold-Stripe Maroon Clownfish. Kevin Kramer is a 14 year old from Michigan that has definitely caught the bug. He has maintained a reef tank since 12/07 and shows no signs or stopping any time soon.

April? Check. Spring? Check. Time for a change? You bet! Let's start with a renewed focus. A year ago I said we were going to 'reboot' MASNA. I believe we have done that, of course we are by no means finished. I also talked about our 'core focus' and how we can work towards being a great organization. While we still have some hurdles to clear, we have accomplished many of our goals and continue to move forward. However this alone does not make a great organization. It is our membership and your participation, dedication and willingness to take an active role in MASNA that will help to make us a great organization.
